Trader Joe's Risoni
TRADER JOE'S
Trader Joe's has already dropped some amazing healthy products this year, and we can't get enough. From an almond flour chocolate chip cookie mix to the already-controversial kale gnocchi, we've found new favorites almost every week in 2020. And we think we may have found this week's latest hit—Organic Chickpea & Red Lentil Risoni.
This new legume-based rice alternative is packed with protein, fiber, iron and potassium that will bring a nutritious boost to any meal. While rice is already gluten-free on its own, this "risoni" is another great option for those who can't eat gluten or are following a specific diet plan.
TJ's Organic Chickpea & Red Lentil Risoni resembles a dark-colored orzo pasta and would also make a great gluten-free substitute in soups, salads and more. This product is made with just two ingredients—organic chickpea flour and organic red lentil flour—so it's a safe bet for nearly all dietary plans and restrictions.
We're also pretty impressed with how nutritious TJ's risoni is. Each 1/4-cup serving has 170 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 27 grams of carbs (much less than other pastas and grains), 3 grams of fiber, 10 grams of protein and just 1 gram of sugar.
Trader Joe's is selling 10.58-ounce boxes of this rice alternative for $2.99. We can't wait to try it in our favorite cold-weather recipes, like Slow-Cooker Turkey Meatballs Over Orzo, Red Beans & Rice and a big pot of Italian Wedding Soup.
