Nuts 'N More, a Rhode Island-based producer of high-protein snacks, is voluntarily recalling 4,143 jars of its Plain Peanut Spread. This recall comes after the potential presence of Listeria was discovered during routine testing. The company has ceased production and distribution of this product as the investigation continues.
The following lot of the Nuts 'N More Plain Peanut Spread is being recalled in Virginia, Arizona, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Alabama, Indiana and Florida, as well as Canada and the U.K.:
- Lot PB91 with expiration date of 03/04/2021
Consuming food or beverages contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause a serious infection, Listeriosis, where one may experience fever, severe headache, muscle or joint stiffness, nausea, stomach pain and diarrhea. Pregnant women, older adults and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk for Listeriosis and can experience more severe symptoms.
While no consumer complaints have been reported at the time of publication, the company is issuing this recall out of caution. Consumers who have purchased the specific lot of this product are encouraged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
